Paris // July 2019
Ever since I was little, I'd always dreamt of going to Paris. Exploring the quaint streets, finding the Parisian buildings with balconies covered in red flowers and eating the famously delicious food. So when my boyfriend and I decided we wanted to go on a short break, I knew Paris would be the perfect destination!
And let me tell you now, we weren't disappointed!
I was blown away by how picturesque the city is, I instantly fell in love with everything about it. We caught the Eurostar on a Thursday morning and stayed until Sunday evening. However, I could've easily have stayed for much longer.
Our itinerary allowed us to have two full days of touristy sightseeing, one day at Disneyland Paris and an amazing food tour for our last day. I definitely recommend to spread out your sightseeing for Paris over a few days, especially if it is as hot as it was for us (35 degrees at one point!). Or do what we did and hire the electric scooters and whizz around the city in style...
Although, beware, you won't find bike paths everywhere, so you will find yourself riding your scooter down very busy roads at rush hour... In an evening dress and heels. I learned my lesson rather quickly.
We spent our first day around the 1st arrondissement, which is the home of the Louvre museum. We spent some time exploring this area, sunbathing by the ponds, walking through the gardens and taking many obligatory photos! This area was such a beautiful place to spend our first day, with lots around to do and many places to sit and take in the views, perfect for your first day on the trip.
Day two was spent at Disneyland Paris and Walt Disney Studios, I feel this is going to have to be a separate post entirely! By far one of the most magical places I've visited. After visiting Disneysea in Tokyo earlier this year, Ross and I have made it our mission to visit as many Disney parks as we can over the next few years! That's three ticked off our list for 2019!
Day three was another sightseeing day, which also happened to be the hottest day on our trip. We soon learnt that sightseeing when it is so hot outside is quite difficult and ended up spending the latter half of the day alongside the river at one of the pop up beaches. If you're visiting Paris throughout the summer, I highly recommend spending some time at these 'beaches', they are fantastic for not only young families but adults too. We sat with our feet in the river listening to some live music and it was the perfect way to cool down. However, before we'd decided to spend out afternoon at the beaches, we did manage to see the Eiffel Tower, something that had been on my bucket list for years!
Day four was our last day, so we prebooked an Airbnb food tour with a great company called No Diet Club. A five hour long bike ride around Paris with nine stops along the way, eating the most amazing food. I have never been so full before! In short, we had crepes, visited a chocolatier, bread, burgers, ice cream, the lot! I was in absolute food heaven. Once again, if you have the time I highly recommend booking a food tour with these guys!
So, that's an overview of how I spent my short break last week! I'm keen to write more in depth posts on places to eat, see and do. So keep an eye out for them! And possibly some posts on my Japan trip earlier this year too! Don't worry, I'll still be writing book reviews too like the old times.
Speak soon,
Em xx
