5 Books You Must Read Before School Starts // Back to School

Yes, I know what you're thinking... 'Em, why? Why remind me that school starts in less than a month?'

Well, unfortunately I can't stop that time of the year from creeping up on us, however I can make it more bearable (hopefully!).

Today, I'm sharing with you 5 Books You Must Read Before School Starts (long title, I know...).

Not only will these books distract you from the thought of going back to school in a few weeks time, they are also books that I love and need to share with you.

They are great books.

Here they are -

The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins

I have written a review for this book, which you can read here. The main reason that I have recommended this book to you is because the film is coming out very soon! So, of course you have to read the book before watching the film!

This book is a thriller and a real page turner. It will keep you on the edge of your seat and you won't be able to put it down. This book is the perfect distraction from school.

I actually gave this book a strong five out of five stars, that's how much I loved it.

My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick

After reading a thriller, you might need a Summery contemporary to cheer you up, if so, this is the book for you. This book will remind you that Summer isn't over yet, you still have time to do all those fun Summery things, like reading, reading, oh and maybe some more reading.

This book is your typical fluffy young adult contemporary, which we all love. It's a light-hearted read and perfect for reading outside in the sun.  I gave it five out of five stars.

Someone Else's Life by Katie Dale

Now that you've read a contemporary to cheer you up, you might want something similar but with a more complex plot. Something fun, but not as fluffy.

I really don't think this book is as popular as it should be. I loved this book and I definitely think more people should read it. The storyline will make you ask yourself 'maybe it's her?' and 'could it be him?'. It keeps you wandering right until the end.

I wish I could go back and read this book for the first time again, I loved how the secrets were revealed and the plot deepened. I really recommend this book to everyone.

Looking for Alaska by John Green

I reviewed this book last month, you can read it here. I really enjoyed this book, it's quite funny. It also has a really good storyline, it's full of humour, it might make you cry (I nearly cried) and the writing is fantastic.

So, if you're looking for a short read that will make you laugh one minute and cry the next, then this is the book for you! Also, it's set in a school so it might gently help you to get back into the mood for school. If that's possible.

And lastly,

All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven

This is quite a heart-wrenching read, you can read my full review for it here. Yes, this book is sad and upsetting. However, it's a beautifully written book with lovely quotes and interesting characters. There will be times where you have to just sit and think about what's going on and there will be times where you can't put the book down.

This book made me appreciate that you don't know what's going on behind closed doors, you can't judge people so quickly. When you finish this book, you will be left wandering about it for quite a while. But, by then, you'll probably be back at school and too busy to cry over the ending, so that's good, right?!

~

I hope you enjoyed this post and have found some books to read before school starts.

I loved all of these books and I hope you enjoy them too.

Speak soon,
