You Know Me Well // Book Review
I finished another book!
This time, I finished reading You Know Me Well by Nina LaCour and David Levithan.
If you're looking for a nice Summery read, then this review is for you!
Here goes -
Goodreads Synopsis:
'Who knows you well? Your best friend? Your boyfriend or girlfriend? A stranger you meet on a crazy night? No one, really?
Mark and Kate have sat next to each other for an entire year, but have never spoken. For whatever reason, their paths outside of class have never crossed.
That is, until Kate spots Mark miles away from home, out in the city for a wild, unexpected night. Kate is lost, having just run away from a chance to finally meet the girl she has been in love with from afar. Mark, meanwhile, is in love with his best friend Ryan, who may or may not feel the same way.
When Kate and Mark meet up, little do they know how important they will become to each other—and how, in a very short time, they will know each other better than any of the people who are supposed to know them more.
Told in alternating points of view by Nina LaCour and David Levithan, You Know Me Well is a story about navigating the joys and heartaches of first love, one truth at a time.'

My Review:
This is the first book that I've read by these two authors and I'm happy to say that I really enjoyed it!
This book follows Mark and Kate, who had never spoken to each other until one night in a club.
Mark is in love with his best friend, Ryan.
Kate is in love with a girl she has never met, Violet.
Mark and Kate meet at a time when they are both in desperate need of a good friend that will listen to your troubles. They instantly become the best of friends, which only makes their own love lives and friendships more challenging. Ryan seems to have moved on and Kate keeps running away from her one true love. Kate is also faced with the big question - Does she really want to go to college?
Together, Mark and Kate help each other through these difficult times, I loved this friendship and watching these two characters grow.
There were a couple of times when reading this book that I thought to myself 'where is this story going?!' as I got a bit confused with the plot and what the plot was. However, I did enjoy this book and it makes a great Summer read.
Also, I love the cover of this book! It's so bright and colourful and makes it even better for reading outside in the sunshine.
I loved the poems in this book as well (which is towards the end of the story) and I loved the writing. I also enjoyed how the chapters alternated between Mark and Kate's perspectives as this made the story even more interesting.
I recommend this book to anyone looking for a short Summer contemporary book.
I have given this book a four out of five stars.
~
I hope you enjoyed this review!

The only book I've read by David Levithan is "The Lover's Dictionnary" and I loved it bu then I read Every day and I was very disappointed so I don't know if I'm ever going to read this one. It doesn't sound like the sort of thing I like reading ~
ReplyDeleteAnyway, great review !
I've not read any of David Levithan's other books, I'll have to read The Lover's Dictionary!
