Autumn TBR
As you have probably already guessed, I'm that type of person that enjoys planning what books they'd like to read over the next month or so. (This is called a TBR - to be read)
I love to set myself goals, so being able to finish a reading goal every month feels like a great achievement, it's quite fun! Now that it's Autumn *dances around room for a good five minutes*, I've made myself an Autumn TBR. I'm hoping that I'll stick to it, but if I buy new books I'll probably read those first!
Anyway, here are the books that I'm planning on reading this Autumn:
I Let You Go by Clare Mackintosh
I started this book earlier in the year and I never finished it. I don't know why, because it was a really good book. I think exams got in the way... My Mum has read this book and has told me many times that I must read it, so I'm going to do that!
This book follows Jenna Gray during a difficult time of her life when an awful accident happens. Jenna tries to leave all her problems behind when she moves to Wales, but is finding it difficult to leave her past behind. Matters only get worse for Jenna when her past comes back to haunt her.
The Little Bookshop of Lonely Hearts by Anne Darling
This book is on my September TBR, but to be honest I'm not sure if I'm going to finish it in time so I've stuck it on my Autumn TBR as well.
Posy Morland is a bookworm, spending her days reading romantic novels. When the owner of a bookshop dies and the shop is left to Posy, she is forced to put down her books and step into the real world. She then meets The Rudest Man In London, who is the previous shop owner's grandson, but all might not be that bad, will they end up together living happily ever after?
Cinder by Marissa Meyer
I have wanted to read this book for so long and I'm currently in the mood for a good fantasy/sci-fi, so I'll probably end up reading this soon!
I believe this book is a bit of a fairytale retelling, Cinder being Cinderella? I'm not 100% sure, but if that's true then that sounds really cool. This book follows Cinder who is a mechanic in New Beijing and she is also a cyborg (how cool is that?!). She is given the blame for her stepsister's illness by her stepmother. Then Cinder meets a Prince and Cinder is stuck in a situation where she has to reveal all of her secrets about her mysterious past.
Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
Seeing as a big part of Autumn is Halloween, I just had to choose a scary book! I don't know much about Gone Girl, however I do know that the film is supposed to be very good!
Nick Dunne is left in a dilemma when his wife mysteriously disappears on the morning of his fifth wedding anniversary. The police believe it was Nick and his wife's friends aren't helping when they admit that Amy, Nick's wife, was afraid of him. But Nick doesn't believe this and is even more confused when the police discover the unusual computer searches and the constant phone calls. So, the question is, where is Amy?
Broken Sky by L. A. Weatherly
I've read this author's Angel trilogy and absolutely loved it, they're some of my favourite books so when I found out that the author has another book, I was super happy!
This is the first book of another trilogy, it is a dystopian/fantasy novel set in 1940's America where war is illegal, Harmony rules and your date of birth marks your destiny. This is apparently the 'perfect world', when actually this world is broken and nothing is perfect.
The Sin Eater's Daughter by Melina Salisbury
This book is very popular, I've seen it all over social media, so I can't wait to read it! Also, the cover is beautiful.
This book follows Twylla, a girl who is able to kill someone with one single touch. She has been chosen to marry a Prince and those who anger the Queen are to be killed under Twylla's touch. It's only the new guard called Lief who is able to see Twylla for who she really is but in a court as dangerous as this one, some secrets must remain a secret.
Poison Heart by S. B. Hayes
I've had this book for quite a while now and for some reason I've never picked it up! I'm determined to read it this Autumn!
Katy is being followed by a girl called Genevieve. She hangs out with her friends, goes to her school and is even trying to seduce Katy's boyfriend. Although everyone else likes Genevieve, Katy knows what she's really like. Katy's worst nightmare.
Delirium by Lauren Oliver
Let's just start off by saying, I love the cover of this book. I seem to have a different edition to everyone else on Instagram but I love it! It's so pretty!
I don't know much about this book, so here is the blurb:
'They say that the cure for love will make me happy and safe forever. And I've always believed them.
Until now.
Now everything has changed. Now, I'd rather be infected with love for the tiniest sliver of a second than live a hundred years suffocated by a lie.
There was a time when love was the most important thing in the world. People would go to the end of the earth to find it. They would tell lies for it. Even kill for it.
Then, at last, they found the cure.'
And lastly,
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
This is another book that I have seen everywhere and have been wanting to read for quite a while.
The blurb doesn't give much away about the book, but it's about a circus that comes and goes without warning, one day it's there and the next it isn't. That's pretty much all the blurb on the back of this book says, so I guess I'll just have to read it to find out what it's about! I'll keep you posted!
~
So there are all the books that I'd like to read this Autumn, fingers crossed I can read all of them but schoolwork will probably get in the way, as per usual!
What book are you planning on reading over the next few months?
Speak soon,
Em x
