My Review:
What can I say? I fell in love with this book straight away. I was hooked from the very beginning. It follows a lady called Jules Bright during the most difficult and challenging time of her life when the unthinkable happens. To make matters worse, the young girl called Amelia that caused all of this grief has just been released from prison and is coming home.
Throughout the first half of this book you are left wandering what the link between Jules and Amelia is and trust me, when you find everything out you will be shocked. The character building in this book was so good, I became so attached to many of the characters and began to picture myself with them, sharing the same emotions as them. It really felt like I was there. I even got quite upset when the big secret is dropped (the secret about why Amelia was in prison), I had become so attached to the characters I didn't want to believe what had just happened.
I rarely get like this with books, so that's a sign that this is a truly amazing book. The only thing that took a little while to get used to was the flitting back in time and back to the present, but when I got used to it I really loved it as it makes the story even more interesting.
This is a story that I reckon I will remember for a long, long time. The writing was fantastic, the descriptions made the story come to life and the plot was very well thought out.
I only really recommend this book to readers that are comfortable reading books that are a little bit on the scarier/murder mystery/thriller side, as it does include scenes about death which I found shocking and sad, but it did not put me off the book at all. Mainly because this is what the book is based around so it's to be expected and it made me want to read on and see how the characters dealt with it.
I will definitely be reading more of Susan Lewis's books, I really enjoyed this style of story, it may be a new favourite genre.
I have given this book a 4 out of 5 stars.
You will enjoy this book if you enjoyed...
