Me Before You // Book Review

This is going to be the first review for my new section, Parent's Corner! This place is for my Mum and Dad to write their own reviews, they are both bookworms and I thought it would be fun to share their love for reading with you guys!

I'm really excited for today's post, I hope you all really enjoy it and share it with your friends and family!

Here goes!

What Lou doesn't know is she's about to lose her job or that knowing what's coming is what keeps her sane.

Will Traynor knows his motorcycle accident took away his desire to live. He knows everything feels very small and rather joyless now and he knows exactly how he's going to put a stop to that.

What Will doesn't know is that Lou is about to burst into his world in a riot of colour. And neither of them knows they're going to change the other for all time.'

Mum's Review:

Me Before You by JoJo Moyes.

Hi, my name is Helen and I’m Em’s Mum! I am also a huge lover of reading and this is my first ever book review!

I’ve recently finished ‘Me Before You’ by JoJo Moyes.
It took me just a few days to read and yes, I cried at the end…

For me to cry at the end of a book it must’ve been a good book… And it was.

It is so beautifully written. I have never read any of JoJo Moyes books before but her style of writing is simply amazing. She incorporated a great deal of witty humour, some of which were just one liners, but so quick witted and left me laughing. She also wrote this book with such enormous sensitivity… The story is about a guy whose life was so busy… Both with work and his social life… Only to have it cut short by a terrible accident leaving him in a wheelchair, paralysed from the neck down. The book provides so much detail about what the poor guy had to go through and how difficult it was for him to accept the state he was left in… Whilst still being surrounded by people who were able to lead their lives normally. The research JoJo must’ve had to have done to write this book would’ve been so extensive and in depth because there is no way anyone, unless they have experienced life like this, would’ve fully appreciated how completely different life is and how even the smallest things we all take for granted are just taken from them.

I absolutely loved this book. It was so hard to put down… It completely opened my eyes to how those in wheelchairs are faced with such extreme difficulties being able to lead what life they have and also those around them… Families, loved ones, etc…. how much it changes them too. Even at my age (almost 50) I never really considered how hard life must be when you’ve led a normal life before hand only to find yourself in a wheelchair, for good, being unable to do a single thing yourself and having to rely on others for everything.

Without a doubt I give this book five stars… It's taken me a few days to get over it and I’m yet to start something else because its still mulling over in my head! If you want a book that makes you sit up and take note of how lucky you are to be able to walk, dress, eat, etc…. And make you appreciate how hard life is for those who cant then read this. You will love it.

You will enjoy this book if you enjoyed...
