My Review:
This is the second book in The Lunar Chronicles series written by Marissa Meyer, you can read my review for the first book in the series, Cinder, here.
This book follows a few more people this time and is written from quite a few different perspectives. The main characters in this book are Cinder, Thorne, Wolf and Scarlet. Cinder and Thorne break out of prison together and become the Commonwealth's most wanted fugitives whereas Scarlet is worried sick about her Grandmother who has been missing for quite a long time, the only person left for her to turn to is untrustworthy Wolf.
Together, these characters unravel lots of new secrets and mysteries which is exciting for the reader, because you get to find the secrets out before the characters do. I was left guessing until the very end, again. I don't know how Marissa Meyer does it, but she always seems to keep me guessing and I always end up guessing wrong!
If you haven't already guessed, this book is loosely based on Red Riding Hood, with Scarlet being Red Riding Hood and Wolf being the wolf. I love how these books are based on fairy tales that we all know and love, but with a huge twist!
I really enjoyed reading from the new character's perspectives, Scarlet is one of my new favourite characters and her and Wolf are just perfect for each other!
“Her mind emptied of everything but the gusting wind and how fragile Wolf looked in that heartbeat, like one movement could break him open.”
I loved the descriptions in this book and the witty conversations between Thorne and Cinder made me chuckle. Thorne has also become on of my new favourite characters and I'm looking forward to seeing what will happen to him in the last two books in the series.
“But I'm a wanted fugitive, like Cinder." Thorne continued. "They do realise I'm missing, don't they?"
"Maybe they're grateful," Cinder muttered.”
Cinder is still as feisty as ever in these books, I was upset to see that she didn't really have anything to do with Emperor Kai in this book as I really enjoyed their conversations in the first book. Hopefully they will meet up again in the next book?
Cinder and Thorne spend most of their time in Thorne's stolen ship, up in space. Wolf and Scarlet are in Reux, France back on Earth. Their lives interlink in a way you wouldn't expect them to, which I found really interesting.
I'm relieved to say that this book is just as good as Cinder and I have given it a four out of five stars. It took me a bit longer than usual to read, but I think that's because I wanted to save the book and not rush it! I don't want this series to end!
You will enjoy this book if you enjoyed...

I hope you enjoyed this review!

Thorne quickly became one of my favorite characters, too! I can totally understand not wanting the story to end. Great review!
