If There's No Tomorrow // Book Review

Hello readers! How are you all? I am super excited to write this post because I recently reviewed a book with this amazing website, Net Galley. You've most likely heard of it if you also review books! But they sent me 'If There's No Tomorrow' by Jennifer L. Armentrout in exchange for an honest review! So, that's what I'm doing today!

Here is my review:

Title: If There's No Tomorrow by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Format: Kindle eBook

Pages: 384

Published by: HQ Young Adult

Genres: Young Adult, Contemporary, Romance

'Lena Wise is always looking forward to tomorrow, especially at the start of her senior year. She's ready to pack in as much friend time as possible, to finish college applications and to maybe let her childhood best friend Sebastian know how she really feels about him. For Lena, the upcoming year is going to be epic—one of opportunities and chances.

Until one choice, one moment, destroys everything.

Now Lena isn't looking forward to tomorrow. Not when friend time may never be the same. Not when college applications feel all but impossible. Not when Sebastian might never forgive her for what happened.

For what she let happen.

With the guilt growing each day, Lena knows that her only hope is to move on. But how can she move on when her and her friends' entire existences have been redefined? How can she move on when tomorrow isn't even guaranteed?'

This is the first book that I have read by Jennifer L. Armentrout, I have seen so many positive reviews online for her books so I was really excited to pick this one up.

If There's No Tomorrow follows Lena Wise at the most difficult and challenging time of her life. She is starting her Senior year in High School, she has a huge crush on her best friend, volleyball is taking up a lot of her time and she also has family problems at home. Sounds like any typical teenage life, right? Well, not for long, devastation hits Lena's hometown and she takes the brunt of it.

“I knew I couldn’t go back and start a new beginning. I couldn’t rewrite the middle. All I could do was change tomorrow, as long as I had one.”

We see Lena go through a horrible situation that you wouldn't wish on anyone, it's a time where her real friends will shine through and family should be there to support her. For Lena, it isn't that easy because she is unable to accept help and condolences from anyone, she feels responsible. She cannot forgive herself and can't see how she can carry on living her life.

One thing I loved about this book is how the author drew me in, I haven't been this attached to a book in a long time, it followed me wherever I went in case I had a spare minute to read. I just wanted to know what was going to happen next. I was shocked when the 'major event' happened, it was as if it was a real life story in the news. It really promotes the problems that we have today with mixing alcohol and driving, something that really hits home for me after losing a relative due to a drink driver. I felt like the issues was dealt with so carefully yet so efficiently.

“I didn’t know how I was supposed to feel, how I was supposed to move on from this point, but I knew I didn’t deserve something good like this.”
Lena - I related to Lena so much, not only did she enjoy reading, I recognised some of the books that she read and fangirled with her! She was a really likeable character, however there were a couple of times when I was like 'seriously?', but I would never, ever want to go through what she went through.

Sebastian - I swooned over Sebastian, to the point where I nearly messaged my own boyfriend with what Sebastian did, you know, just so he could up his game a little (Hey Sean, if you're reading this, take note!). He was such a loving, caring and simply perfect character that any teenage girl would love!

“I love you … I’ve been in love with you for as long as I remember.”

Dary - Dary is such a unique and cool character, she was a brilliant friend to Lena, even when she was torn between two people, she never disowned her best friend. I also loved her wacky style and funny ways, she brought some fun to this book.

Abbi - Unfortunately I had mixed feelings about Abbi, am I the only one who felt this way? At times I felt she could've been a better friend and maybe less selfish? Then again, like Lena, she had been through a lot... I loved the friendships between Lena, Dary and Abbi, they really reflected what teenage friendships are like.
Overall, I loved this book.  I am desperate to get my hands on Armentrout's other books now!

I have given this book 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟!

And, if you have followed my blog for a while, you know how I rarely ever give out five star ratings, so take it from me, I loved this book! You should read it too!
