It Ends With Us // Book Review

Wow, it's certainly been a hot minute since I last wrote a book review! I have to say, I have missed writing them and sharing my views on the books that I have read, but life has been so hectic I just didn't have time to sit and talk about my latest read. But I actually remembered to carry my laptop with me today so writing a review is on the to do list!

My kindle has been my best friend since changing jobs, which has resulted in me spending the majority of my life on trains now. I will always love reading actual books, nothing can beat that, but I have been leaning towards my kindle a lot more lately!

So, since I've enjoyed reading via my kindle so much, it only made sense to buy some new books to read on there! One of them being 'It Ends With Us' by Colleen Hoover. I've heard nothing but great things about Colleen's books, especially over on BookTube (the bookworm side of YouTube, if you haven't checked it out yet then what on earth are you doing?!).

Here is my review of It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover:

Synopsis

Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up
— she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true.

Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily. And the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn’t hurt. Lily can’t get him out of her head. But Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his “no dating” rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place.

As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan — her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.

“There is no such thing as bad people. We’re all just people who sometimes do bad things.”

To be completely honest, when I first started this book I thought it would just be your typical chic flick, something cheesy and predictable. However, I couldn't have been more wrong, it wasn't the story that the blurb suggested it would be! The story follows a young adult, Lily Bloom, in the most exciting part of her adult life, not only has she decided to launch her own business but she has also met her 'dream' man. The story flits back and forth between her current life as an adult and her childhood stories told through letters which she addressed to her favourite TV host, Ellen.

Soon after starting the book I realised it wasn't going to be all rainbows and unicorns, especially when reading about her childhood. However I didn't realise that it would have such an impact on the rest of the storyline. Whilst reading this book, it gave me a bit of a wake up call and a huge insight to what some men and women unfortunately go through in regards to not only abuse, but how it affects their lives. I felt as if I was there with Lily when she was having to make some really difficult decisions and couldn't help but not blame her when she made the wrong ones. I started thinking about what I would do if I were in her shoes, realising that it's definitely much easier said than done.

“Just because we didn’t end up on the same wave, doesn’t mean we aren’t still a part of the same ocean.”

This book was a heart wrenching rollercoaster, a storyline that has stuck with me since finishing the book about a month ago. I picked this book up after reading a hefty book a couple of months ago with the hope that this one would be light hearted and cheesy, I couldn't have been more wrong!

I highly recommend this book, especially for young adults, it really is an eye opening story that has taught me a lot about life and relationships.

I have given this book 🌟🌟🌟🌟

If you enjoyed this, you will enjoy
